April Newsletter - news from our perfume studio

Behind the scenes ...
As I mentioned in a recent newsletter, work continues apace on the three new parfums. I'm hoping to launch these beauties this summer
Design inspiration
And we've been working on a special design for the bottles. I think they'll evoke a true sense of the places we'll be celebrating. There's a dash of romance too. I hope you'll agree when you see them.
I have to confess that designing on glass always brings some creative and technical challenges, but it's a part of the job I love and enjoy: real hands-on design

LONDON
What I've been wearing...
With spring in the air (finally!) and nature reawakening, I've been reaching for our London scent - praised for its innovative style at the prestigious Art & Olfaction Awards (the more arty, indie perfume industry award show -- think Cannes Film Festival versus the Oscars.)
This perfume opens with a beautifully fresh and green cucumber water. Then you'll feel a rich, lush, textured rose. I wanted to capture the feeling of a city garden after the rain. After that, the drydown (the part you'll feel after several hours on your skin) brings out suede and leather, inspired by the vintage clothes shops of the East End's Brick Lane
Perfume lovers. Save the date!
Saturday May 17th
We'll be in Barnes again for the UK's premier fragrance fair. It's a brilliant day out for fragrance lovers and the curious. There's a popular programme of talks - I'd love to recommend Sarah McCartney's 'Start Making Scents' workshop.
There's free entry to the main show space, where you'll find us alongside a brilliant bunch of our fellow British indie makers.
It's become one of the highlights of my year - meeting lots of perfume enthusiasts and connoisseurs from all over the UK and beyond
This made me happy
A big thank you to everyone who messaged us with birthday wishes.
It means the world to have your support - it's why we're still going today.
A special thanks to those who sent us chocolates, cards, cakes. And the alfajores were definitely appreciated! This famous Argentinian biscuit, with dulce de leche, was one of the inspirations for our Buenos Aires fragrance
Televisual escapism
There are moments when you start watching a new TV series and you think: HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS BEFORE?!
This was my feeling when I started watching Hacks a few weeks ago. Hacks is so funny and touching.
It's about an ageing comedienne (think Joan Rivers) who loses her big gig in Vegas. She's sent a Gen Z scriptwriter to help refresh her act. It's a story about generational misunderstandings, creative expression and perseverance.
It's had me howling with laughter and tears - and what's more, Ms Deborah Vance, the comic diva, is a massive fraghead. I can't help but wonder which perfume the writers had in mind for her signature scent, Black Pashmina ...
Here's to fragrant adventures and thank you as always,
Warm wishes,
