OUR NEW COLLECTION

Hello,

I hope you've all enjoyed a wonderful summer.

It's been a busy month for us launching our new Gulf Collection of three parfums:

Ar Riyād (the orange blossom)
Dubai (the jasmine)
Souq Wāqif (our first oud)

I've been thrilled to read your comments and reactions!

"glamour is back - wow"
"phenomenal scents"
"beautiful classical feeling perfumes"

Gulf inspirations and wanderlust

The reviews and press coverage have been equally glowing.

I'm very proud to get positive reviews from the most admired (and feared) critic around - Luca Turin. Within the trade, we're all are on tenterhooks for his opinions. He can be unsparing if he doesn't approve - he can also be very funny. See his candid and hilarious reviews in his book Perfumes The Guide. All perfume-lovers should own a copy.

Here's what he said about Ar Riyād: “One of the most distinctive dry down accords in a long time. Wear this and be remembered.”

And we were also featured in The New York Times - quite the coup for a small independent British brand!

MY OWN FAVOURITE?

Well, I'm not really allowed a favourite, am I? But I do find Ar Riyād particularly elegant, memorable and unique.

It's a spicy floral - a classical olfactory style which is becoming rarer in modern perfumery.

When I was designing it, I had in mind two perfumes. One was Nuit de Tubéreuse - I have very fond memories of working on that with Master Perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour (for L'Artisan Parfumeur). It's a lovely spicy tuberose, sadly now discontinued.

The other perfume I had as a reference was YSL's iconic Opium. Very strong memories for me as a child of the 80s.

Ar Riyād doesn't smell like those scents, but I hope it carries on a fine tradition of floral notes (orange blossom in this case) zipped up with zingy warm spices

REVIEWS

I really appreciate all the kind notes and emails you send us. It gives us a little boost when sometimes the going is tough.

"Gallivant is proof that quality comes out on top!" is something I just read from one of you - thank you.

And I know there's a modern mania for 'please review everything' - but reviews do make a big difference to us smaller businesses.

So if you're ever minded, you can leave a review here.

I'm now leaving on a trip to the Caucasus - back in a few weeks! Maybe Georgia or Armenia will inspire a future perfume ... Thanks as always for your custom and support,

Nick
