The Dubai story
Says Nick, “I’m inspired by Dubai’s long history as a trading hub on the Gulf. I love the can-do, outward-looking energy of today’s Dubai. The newness, the crisp light and cleanliness of the place. And the promise of a sparkling, blooming future …. My affection for this place has grown with every visit. I have many lovely memories of graceful moments in sumptuous gardens, of local friends taking me to their off-the-tourist trail neighbourhoods filled with glorious flowers, grasses, shrubs and trees.

SCENT STORY

This parfum (concentrated at 36%) opens with a sunny pear and neroli duo, set against a soupçon of leathery saffron.
A tea accord takes centre stage alongside the jasmine sambac (we’re using a special ‘green’ extraction process which preserves the more delicate notes). There’s a waft of honeysuckle along with cypriol, a grounding, earthy, smoky material we love to use in many of our GALLIVANT creations. I’ve always associated jasmine with the Middle East, that sense of heady, all-enveloping heat, that mix of freshness and sensual richness.
The base is constructed around sophisticated smoky vetiver, sparkling modern musks and a touch of warm, golden amber.

Meet the maker
For the creation of the Dubai fragrance, founder Nick Steward worked with Céline Perdriel. Based in Paris, Céline has become the go-to-perfumer for an innovative and contemporary style of perfumery rich in classical and historical references. Her compositions are clever, considered and bursting with a genuine love of perfumery and its emotional pleasures.
Says Nick: “People I know well in the perfume world, people whose judgement and taste I trust, kept saying to me: you must meet Céline – you two would really get on."
Adds Nick: "we quickly discovered that we have the same approach to perfumery — we love its possibilities for escapism and playfulness. We love the sense of fun and pleasure, but we’re not interested in chasing trends or gimmicks. We also share a respect for the craft of perfume-making, for the classic fragrances of the past. We hope we’re making perfumes that will pass the test of time.
Adds Céline: “I like to create something chic, natural and timeless – so it felt like an easy fit working with Nick.”
